Sebastián Ignacio Vegas Orellana

Central defender Sebastián Vegas came through at Audax Italiano, starting out with the club's reserve side in 2013 before working into the first team, where he stayed until 2017. The move that shaped his career came a year earlier, in July 2016, when he joined Monarcas Morelia on loan with an option to buy; Morelia exercised that option in 2017 for a fee of 1.5 million dollars. When the Morelia franchise relocated and became Mazatlán FC in 2020, Vegas moved with it, and that same year he was loaned out again, this time to Monterrey, who signed him permanently in 2021.

Monterrey is where Vegas built his strongest run of form. He won the Apertura 2019 league title, added the Copa MX in the 2019–20 season, and lifted the CONCACAF Champions League in 2021. That continental triumph brought individual recognition too: he was named to the CONCACAF Champions League Team of the Tournament and the IFFHS CONCACAF Team of the Year, having already been included in the Liga MX Best XI for the Apertura 2019 campaign.

At international level, Vegas made his senior debut for Chile against Romania on 31 May 2018 and has since earned 21 caps and two goals for the national team. He came up through the Chilean youth ranks as well, with four appearances at under-17 level and 13 caps and a goal at under-20 level, a spell that included the 2015 South American Championship.

In 2025, Vegas returned to Chilean football on loan at Colo-Colo.
