Al Jazeera

The rivalry that matters most in Amman belongs to Al-Faisaly and Al-Wehdat, and Al-Jazeera stands apart from it.

The Red Devils built their reputation early, taking the Jordanian Premier League three years running, in 1952, 1955 and 1956, before league titles stopped coming their way. The 1981 Jordan FA Shield against Al-Wehdat went to spot-kicks after a 1–1 draw, and five years later the same happened against Al-Faisaly. The 1984 FA Cup, by contrast, was settled in ordinary time, a single goal enough to beat Al-Ahli.

Continental football gave the club its more recent moments of note. In the AFC Cup, Al-Jazeera reached the Round of 16 in 2015 and then the West Asia zonal final in both 2018 and 2019, a run built partly around Musa Al-Taamari, on loan from Shabab Al-Ordon, who scored six goals in ten matches in that competition before establishing himself with the Jordan national team.

The club's fortunes turned sharply after that: They won Division 1 in 2023–24 to come straight back up, and by the 2025–26 season sat sixth in the Pro League under manager Raed Al-Dawood.

It all traces back to a group of young men playing informal games around Amman, formalised on 1 January 1947 when the Interior Ministry granted its approval.
