Cougars

Buniamshof seats 2,500 for matches, and about 1,500 of those places are under cover. It is the ground of the Lübeck Cougars, the American football side of United Sports Club Lübeck (USC Lübeck).

The team began with the members of a defunct club, the Outlaws. They formed the Cougars in 1987 and played their first official games in 1990. In 1993 they won the Regionalliga and went up to the 2. Bundesliga. In 1999 they went through the Oberliga Nord without a defeat and beat the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes II in the final to earn promotion.

The 2011 title in the Regionalliga Nord took them into the second tier, the GFL2. A year later they were in the top flight, the German Football League (GFL), as a replacement team. They lasted one season there and went back down. Most of the years since have been spent in the GFL2 North, where they finished second in 2014, 2015 and 2019.

Later they were back in the Regionalliga Nord, playing sides such as the Schwarzenbek Wolves and the Norderstedt Mustangs. They won the league with nine wins from nine games, the same kind of clean sweep they had managed in 1999.
