Geita Gold

Twenty-four wins, five draws and a single defeat took Geita Gold to the top of the Ligi Daraja la Kwanza table with 77 points in 2025/26, and on 20 June 2026 the club collected the trophy at Nyankumbu Stadium after beating Big Man FC 2-0 in the final. It was the club's second promotion-winning campaign in the division: the same competition had sent them up in 2020/21, and that first spell in the NBC Premier League ended with fourth place and a route into the CAF Confederation Cup.

The club plays its home fixtures some way from home. CCM Kirumba Stadium, where Geita Gold are listed as tenants, stands in Mwanza, not Geita, and holds 35,000.

Geita Gold Mining Limited, the AngloGold Ashanti subsidiary that gives the club its name, has kept it running since the side's entry into senior football in the 2018/19 season. The relationship goes beyond a shirt sponsorship: in 2022 the mining company renewed its backing with a deal worth 800 million Tanzanian shillings and added a team bus valued at 500 million shillings.

Capped 97 times for Tanzania and a veteran of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, he arrived in 2021 having already played for both Simba SC and Young Africans. No fixture on the calendar carries the weight of history yet; the club has not been in the top flight long enough to have made an enemy of anyone in particular.
