Mighty Royals

Bofoakwa Tano remains the name attached to Wamanafo Mighty Royals' worst afternoon: a match against the Sunyani side ended with supporters going after match officials, and in March 2021 the Ghana Football Association responded by banning the club indefinitely from its own ground. Wamanafo Town Park, known locally as Wamanafo CAM Park, has sat unused by its tenants since, with home fixtures shifted to neutral venues.

The club competing under that ban is not quite the one that started out. It was registered in 2016 as NEA Salamina FC, and only on 17 October 2019, after a board meeting and fresh paperwork with Ghana's Registrar of Companies, did it re-emerge as Wamanafo Mighty Royals FC, known to its own supporters as The Royals . Claims of a 2018 league title and later cup wins circulate on aggregator sites, but they sit outside what the federation and local reporting have on record.

Off the pitch, the club picked up a further charge for breaching COVID-19 protocols, adding to a disciplinary file already carrying the stadium ban. On it, the Wamanafo side has run out players such as Junior Dapaah, part of a squad still competing in the Division One League under the name settled on that October evening in 2019.
