Legon sits in Accra as a university district, not a football stronghold, and Nania Park, tucked into the campus grounds there and known locally as the Legon Maintenance Park, holds 600 people, which tells most of what needs telling about the club that plays behind those walls. Abedi Pele, one of Ghana's own football legends, founded the side in 1998 and named it after Nania, the village in the Upper East Region his father came from — the nickname "Pride of Paga" travelled south with the name, even as the team itself stayed in the capital.

March 2007 nearly ended the club altogether. On the final day of the Division One season, Nania beat Okwahu United 31-0 while Great Mariners put 28 past Tudu Mighty Jets on the same afternoon, and the Ghana Football Association read both scorelines as an arranged manipulation of goal difference for promotion. All four clubs were demoted to Division Three and fined; Abedi Pele was banned for a year, his wife Maha Ayew indefinitely, and the players involved for a year each. His ban was lifted on appeal, and the club climbed back.

What followed the fall was the club's one night that mattered beyond Legon. In the 2011 Ghana FA Cup final, Nania beat Asante Kotoko 1-0, becoming the first lower-division side to lift the trophy. Evans Omani, sent on as a substitute, scored the winning goal in extra time; Abraziz Abankwa was named the final's best player. The Super Cup followed within weeks, against Berekum Chelsea.

Lee Addy passed through Nania on his way to Red Star Belgrade and the Ghana national team, one line among several linking the club to players who built careers elsewhere. Beyond that one cup run, the trophy cabinet stays bare — no league title, no return to the final since 2011.
