Koforidua

The image that lingers from Koforidua Semper Fi's recent run is a goalkeeper's afternoon: Godwin Agbosu, standing tall through a 1-1 draw with Ebusua Dwarfs in the 2026 X1 Energy Drink DOL Super Cup final, then watching the shoot-out slip away 5-4. He walked off with the tournament's Best Goalkeeper award anyway.

Semper Fi play out of Koforidua, in Ghana's Eastern Region, in Zone Three of the Access Bank Division One League. Their ground, the Koforidua Sports Stadium, holds around 5,000 and was upgraded in 2023 into what is now also known as the Koforidua Youth Resource Centre. Yaw Agyeman, a right-back who came through that system, left for Norwegian side Raufoss IL in 2024.

The fiercest fixture on the calendar is against Okwawu United, billed locally as the Eastern Regional Derby. The two sides met in November 2024 and could not finish the job: heavy rain forced the match to be suspended at 1-1. Off the pitch, the club has had its own export success — former head coach Ayinbire Norbert Elegant left Koforidua to take up a training attachment with Ajax Amsterdam, a rare route for a coach out of the Division One League.

In the MTN FA Cup, Semper Fi reached the Round of 16 in 2025/26, drawn against Dreams FC, a step up from their preliminary-round exit to MSK Zilina Afrika three seasons earlier. With the Super Cup final now behind them, the immediate task is the same one that has defined the club.
