«Ravens»
Fans were given a list of 100 names in 1996 and asked to pick one. They chose Ravens, after Edgar Allan Poe's poem "The Raven". The club was formally created on 9 February 1996 and played its first NFL season that autumn.
White is kept for the road jerseys.
M&T Bank Stadium on Russell Street opened on 8 August 1998. It seats 70,745.
In the 2000 season the Ravens reached Super Bowl XXXV, played on 28 January 2001, and beat the New York Giants 34-7. Ray Lewis was named the game's most valuable player (MVP).
Super Bowl XLVII, on 3 February 2013, was much tighter. Baltimore beat the San Francisco 49ers 34-31, and quarterback Joe Flacco took the MVP award.
