RoPS Rovaniemi

Rovaniemen Palloseura has reached the Suomen Cup final four times: HPS beat them 5-0 in the 1962 final, KePS lost to them 2-0 in 1986, HJK won 2-0 in 1993, and KuPS went down 2-1 in 2013.

The club was formed at a founding meeting on 16 February 1950 in Rovaniemi, and settled on the name Rovaniemen Palloseura on 14 March. It has never changed that name or merged with another side since. Home matches are played at the Rovaniemen keskuskenttä, known locally as Keskuskenttä, with a main stand seating a little under 3,000 and an open "sun stand" beyond it.

Blue and white have been the club's colours since 1950, and the nickname Sinipaidat — the Blue Shirts — comes straight off the shirt. The fixture that draws the most attention locally is against PS Kemi, known as the Lapin derby or, more often, the Jänkäderby — the bog derby.

A Veikkausliiga title has stayed out of reach throughout the club's history. RoPS finished third in 1988 and 1989, then closer still in 2015 and 2018, twice runners-up without going the last step.
