Promotion arrived in the 2025-26 season, when Sebat Gençlikspor won Group 3 of the Nesine 3. Lig and went up to the TFF 2. Lig. In 2018-19, its debut season, the team won the Trabzon 2nd Amateur League B Group by scoring 118 goals in 15 matches.

The club itself exists because an older one ran out of money. Akçaabat Sebatspor, founded in 1923 as Sebat İdman Yurdu, had played in the Süper Lig between 2003 and 2005 and built a youth academy that produced Şenol Güneş, among others, before financial trouble ended it. Sebat Gençlikspor was put together in 2018 to carry the district's football forward under the same red and white that gave the old club, and now the new one, its nickname among supporters: Kırmızı-Beyazlılar, the Red-Whites.

Matches against Trabzon Söğütlüspor are still called the Söğütlü Derby, and a reminder that Sebat's rivalries are local rather than the Trabzonspor fixture the old Sebatspor once had.

Home games are played at the Ortahisar Yavuz Selim Stadı, listed at up to 3,500 seats. With the move up to the TFF 2.
