About

The Supercoppa italiana di pallacanestro maschile, known in English as the Lega A Super Cup, is a professional basketball tournament in Italy. Organised by the Lega Basket Serie A (LBA), it serves as the opening fixture for the domestic season. The event is distinct from the league championship and the Coppa Italia, functioning as an invitational competition for clubs in the top tier. Participation is determined by sporting merit from the previous campaign rather than league position relative to lower divisions.

Since 2014, the competition has utilised a Final Four format. This mini-tournament is held in a single venue over a weekend and consists of two semi-finals and a final. Four teams qualify for the event: the champion and runner-up of the previous Serie A season, and the winner and runner-up of the previous Coppa Italia. If a team qualifies through multiple paths, spots are filled by the next best teams from the respective competitions. Prior to 2014, the trophy was contested in a single match between the Serie A champion and the Coppa Italia winner.

Olimpia Milano is the current holder, having defeated Pallacanestro Brescia in the 2025 final. The club shares the record for most titles with Mens Sana Siena, with each side having won six editions. The competition has undergone several name changes due to sponsorship, including the Agos Ducato Supercoppa and the Beko Supercoppa, and is currently known as the Frecciarossa Supercoppa. It is played at the start of the year, typically in September or October, before the regular season begins.
