Correanimos UAT Victoria defeated Freseros de Irapuato 86-83 in the LNBP on Tuesday. The visitors took the game by a single possession after trading wins in their previous meeting. Freseros had triumphed 99-96 the day before, but Victoria responded with a tighter defensive display this time around.
The hosts started brighter, converting 41 per cent of their field goal attempts compared to Victoria's 49 per cent. Freseros relied on volume, taking 83 shots to Victoria's 57. By then the visitors had found their rhythm from distance, hitting nine 3-pointers against three for the home side.
What mattered most was efficiency at the free-throw line. Victoria converted 21 of 26 attempts while Freseros managed 12 from 20. The visitors also controlled the glass with 44 rebounds to 34, building a cushion when the game was still within reach.
Statistically the numbers tell a clear story. Freseros dominated offensive rebounds with 18 to 11 and recorded 11 steals against seven. But those extra possessions did not translate into points. Victoria's 20 turnovers cost them dearly, yet their shooting accuracy kept them in contention.
Both teams showed signs of fatigue in the closing stages. Freseros had been inconsistent lately, losing three of their last five games including a heavy 99-73 defeat to Diablos Rojos. Victoria's recent form had been mixed before this win, but they extended their unbeaten run to two matches with this result.
The victory keeps Victoria competitive in the standings while Freseros remain searching for consistency. Three points separated them after an evening where neither side could pull away completely. The margin was narrow, and that is what the game came down to.
