Rytas beat Boca Juniors 77-70 in the Intercontinental Cup on Friday evening. The Lithuanian side secured a two-point margin at home, closing out a close contest against the Argentine visitors. Both teams finished with twelve turnovers each, which kept the game tighter than the final score might suggest.

The shooting numbers tell the story here. Rytas hit ten three-pointers from twenty-eight attempts, while Boca managed seven from twenty-three. The hosts also pulled down thirty-eight rebounds to the visitors' twenty-eight, a gap that mattered in the second half. Boca had no blocks all game, which let Rytas find shots inside.

What struck me watching was how the game ebbed rather than flowed. By then, the leads changed hands more than once. Boca kept knocking on the door from distance but couldn't string together a sustained run. Rytas didn't need to dominate in any one quarter — they just needed to be marginally sharper when it counted.

The visitors arrive in decent form though. They beat Beijing Royal Fighters 88-78 two days ago, after a narrow loss to G League United. Their recent record shows they can score in bunches when the rhythm is right — ninety-nine against Kimsa in May, for instance. But consistency is another matter.

Rytas have been more volatile of late. That 107-66 demolition of Shanghai was impressive, but they also lost to Juventus Utena twice in May and fell to Gargždai. The line hasn't moved much for them — they're not a team that sustains peaks or troughs for long.

Seven-point margin isn't a statement, but it's enough. Rytas take this one and move on. Boca will look at the three-point percentage and wonder what might have been if the shots had dropped a fraction more.
