TFT Skopje beat KK Skopje 102-98 in the Superleague of North Macedonia on Wednesday evening. The result keeps the hosts in first place after a run of three defeats in their last five games. Both sides came into the fixture having lost their previous matches, making it a chance to turn a corner.
The home side had lost 70-78 to Pelister on October 4th, ending a sequence that included two losses in May and one victory. They had also fallen to Madzari 69-71 in their most recent game before that Pelister defeat. Sitting on 19 wins from 22 games, they needed this one to steady the ship.
KK Skopje arrived with a similar story. They had been beaten 95-101 by KK Kozuv Gevgelija on October 4th and were looking for a response. The visitors pushed TFT hard but could not find a way past in the closing stages of what was a tight encounter.
The four-point margin tells you it was competitive. TFT held their nerve after a difficult patch of results and extended their lead at the top. KK Skopje will have to regroup quickly if they want to challenge for the title.
