Ben Simmons agrees one-year deal with Sacramento Kings

The 2016 first pick, out since April 2025, signs a $3.5m contract for 2026/27 with a rebuilding Kings side led by Doug Christie.

Ben Simmons has agreed a one-year deal worth $3.5m with the Sacramento Kings for the 2026/27 season, according to Shams Charania.

Simmons was the first overall pick in the 2016 draft and reached the Eastern Conference semi-final three times with the Philadelphia 76ers. He was named Rookie of the Year, made three All-Star teams, one All-NBA team and two All-Defensive teams, but his output has fallen away since 2021 because of recurring back injuries.

Simmons has not played since April 2025, when he featured for the Los Angeles Clippers in the play-offs. He spent last season split between the Brooklyn Nets and the Clippers, appearing in 51 games and averaging 5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.6 assists in 22 minutes. The Clippers waived him in May.
