Fire Alarm Evacuates Women's World Cup Teams in Berlin
A hand-triggered fire alarm forced almost every squad but the USA out of their Berlin hotel overnight, hours before eight teams play, including the Americans against Italy.
A fire alarm forced almost every squad at the Women's World Cup out of their Berlin hotel overnight, with the United States the only team spared.
Sky Sport reports that all national teams staying at the hotel, bar the USA side, who are based elsewhere in the city, were woken and evacuated after the alarm went off. The hotel later said someone had triggered it by hand, apologised for the disruption, and asked guests not to set off the alarm without a genuine emergency.
The scare came on the eve of a full matchday. Eight teams play today, the United States among them, taking on Italy.
