Pelicans Trade Jordan Hawkins to Grizzlies
New Orleans deals Hawkins, Peavy and draft assets to Memphis for Johnson and Gibson, clearing cap space to sign Bennedict Mathurin.
The New Orleans Pelicans SC have traded Jordan Hawkins to the Memphis Grizzlies after three seasons with the club, ESPN's Shams Charania reported.
New Orleans sent Hawkins, Micah Peavy, a future second-round pick and the right to swap a future second-round pick to Memphis. In return, the Pelicans SC received AJ Johnson and Taj Gibson.
The deal saves New Orleans roughly $5.7 million in salary and clears room on the payroll to sign Bennedict Mathurin.
Hawkins was the 14th pick in the 2023 NBA draft.
