Quentin Grimes Explains His Role With the Lakers
The 26-year-old guard says JJ Redick and the staff outlined a big offensive role and a leadership responsibility defending top opposing scorers.
Grimes already knows the terms of his role at the Lakers. The 26-year-old guard, moved to the club over the summer, told ESPN LA he welcomed the clarity.
"Everyone wants to feel wanted as a player. I think there was mutual interest between me and the Lakers for a while now," Grimes said.
He credited Redick and the rest of the staff with spelling out what the job would actually involve.
"That was one of the biggest things, when I talked to JJ (Redick) and the rest of the staff. They were able to explain to me what my role would be. I'll have a pretty good-sized role on offence, and a serious leadership responsibility on defence. I want that responsibility," Grimes said.
The comments frame Grimes less as a squad addition than as a cornerstone.
