Alden Polynice slams Cavaliers' $97M deal for Harden
Former NBA center Alden Polynice called Cleveland's three-year, $97 million extension for James Harden a bad move, citing his playoff history and declining first step.
"This man has had trouble in the playoffs from the earliest stages of his career. It's his calling card: he will always fall short in the playoffs, and you just gave him $97 million over three years knowing all that history. As I see it, that's a bad move. Again, I don't blame him for taking his money. But this is a bad organizational move by Cleveland. From that standpoint, it's simply a terrible move. I call it dead money. Because you'll get only so much out of him. Meaning nothing, because the young guys will run past him. He no longer has that first step. He's not as quick as he used to be. That's what I'm saying. Guys get older, you know? Over time players stop producing the way they used to," Polynice said.
