Two MBA players will miss time after colliding with each other during the semi-final of the Kondrashin-Belov Cup against Zenit. Andrei Zubkov suffered a jaw fracture, while Pavel Savkov was diagnosed with concussion.
Igor Kocharyan, the Moscow club's general director, gave details of both injuries to Match TV.
"Unfortunately, we have injuries to two players. Andrei Zubkov and Pavel Savkov picked them up in the match against Zenit, colliding with each other. We had hoped that Zubkov would work his way back into the side after his illness and that we would build something with him, but in the first game he suffered a serious injury – a crack in his jaw. It is still being determined how long the recovery will take. We are currently gathering several opinions, after which a decision will be made on what to do. Pavel Savkov has a concussion. At first it seemed everything was fine, and he was even named for the match against UNICS, but after playing only a short time he felt discomfort – a concussion was diagnosed. MBA beat Zenit 80-78 in that semi-final, then went on to defeat UNICS 96-92 in Tuesday's final to win the Kondrashin-Belov Cup.
