Peñarroya: Partizan 'Don't Have a Team Yet'
Partizan's head coach says his overhauled squad is still building its identity after a busy transfer summer, promising fans a first look soon.
Joan Peñarroya says his rebuilt Partizan squad still has to become a team. The head coach spoke about the side he has put together after a summer of sweeping changes to the roster, saying the transfer market work this close season had been especially difficult but that he is now happy with the group of players assembled.
"I think we have good players, there are experienced basketball players, but there are also those who are just starting to compete at this level, who have talent and want to develop," Peñarroya said.
He added that turning the squad into a genuine team is still a work in progress. "We don't have a team yet. We are trying to create a real team and form our new character. In a few days we want to show the fans what our character is and how we are going to fight. I am pleased, because over the last two weeks we have trained very well, with excellent intensity. The lads are working brilliantly, and right now I think we are in good shape," he said.
Partizan overhauled much of its roster this off-season, and Peñarroya's comments point to a squad still finding its identity ahead of the campaign, with the coach promising fans a first look at that character within days.
