The left knee has effectively defined his career since he ruptured the cruciate ligament in the summer of 2023. A series of surgeries followed, each one keeping him out for long stretches. His last competitive appearance came in autumn 2025 for Milan, and that spell lasted only briefly before a further operation ruled him out for a year.
