Panathinaikos restores Bodiroga's championship banner
The club reinstated Dejan Bodiroga's banner months after removing it during a Euroleague protest, ending a dispute with owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos.
The club took the banner down during a match against Olympiacos, on the order of owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos, as a protest against several refereeing decisions in the first half. A banner honouring club legend Fragiskos Alvertis went up in its place for the interim.
Giannakopoulos later said taking the banner down had been a mistake, and called Bodiroga a major authority in European basketball and a personal friend.
Bodiroga played for Panathinaikos from 1998 to 2002 and won the Euroleague twice with the club, a spell that made him one of its leading figures.
