Samson Arakelyan Steps Down as Astana General Manager
Arakelyan leaves the post he held since May 2022 after Astana scrapped plans to return to the VTB League, shifting focus to youth development instead.
Samson Arakelyan has stepped down as general manager of Astana, the Kazakhstani club having abandoned plans to return to the VTB League after a year's absence.
Astana had hoped to come back to the league this season but instead opted to focus on youth development. Arakelyan had held the post since May 2022.
"I am handing over management of the club at a point when the main organisational matters of the transition period have been resolved, and the new structure of the club and its objectives have been clearly defined. I am grateful to the whole team – the players, the coaching staff and the club's employees – for these years of working together," Arakelyan said.
