Tyler Kolek: I Need to Be More Aggressive Attacking the Rim

Knicks guard Tyler Kolek says a sharper jump shot and more aggressive drives to the basket are the keys to earning more playing time this season.

Tyler Kolek opens his third NBA season with no certainty of a rotation spot at the Knicks.

The 25-year-old guard will not predict his role this year, but he says he knows exactly what he must fix to earn more minutes.

Over the summer he studied Jalen Brunson's game closely, hoping to sharpen his own finishing around the basket.

Kolek only found a route into the rotation last season once injuries cleared space ahead of him. He made the most of it in December and during the Knicks' run to the NBA Cup title. Once José Alvarado joined the squad, the minutes dried up again.

Whether this season looks different may come down to the two things Kolek himself named: a readier shot and a more aggressive drive to the rim.
