DeMar DeRozan said calls from Nikola Jokic, Aaron Gordon and Jamal Murray played a part in his decision to sign with the Denver Nuggets, telling The Athletic the three players phoned him personally to make their case.

DeRozan, 37, spent the past two seasons at the Sacramento Kings, averaging 18.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 2025/26.

Asked about his position in the league at this stage of his career, DeRozan reflected on how long he has lasted in the NBA.

"When I came into the league, I never would have thought I would play this long. When you start your career, you don't realise how quickly time passes. For me it's a great fortune to have the chance to play for so many years," said DeRozan.
