Charlotte still wants Domantas Sabonis, but Sacramento is not making it easy.
Insider Jake Fischer reports that the Hornets remain interested in a possible trade for the Kings centre, though a deal is not close.
Sabonis, 30, is in the second year of a five-year, $216.6m contract with Sacramento, with two years and $94m remaining. He is now eligible for an extension, and by all accounts that is where the standoff begins: the Kings want assets and draft picks in return, while suitors are reluctant to hand him the extension terms he wants attached to any move.
If that gap holds, Charlotte's pursuit stays where it has been for a while now — real interest, no deal in sight.
