Michael Sweetney, a former NBA centre, has died at the age of 43. His wife announced his death on social media, according to Sports.ru, with what the outlet described as a heartfelt tribute to her late husband.

He played 233 games in the NBA, averaging 6.5 points and 4.5 rebounds. Sweetney left the league in 2007 but kept playing abroad and in the G League. He ended his playing career in Uruguay in 2017.
