Rustam Murzagalyev Retires, Joins Astana Coaching Staff
Astana's 34-year-old captain ends his playing career after 14 seasons, immediately taking up a role as assistant coach at the club.
Rustam Murzagalyev has retired. Astana's long-time captain, 34, will stay at the club as an assistant coach.
The defender spent almost his entire career at Astana. Over 14 seasons there he won 12 national championships and 11 Kazakhstan Cups. In the VTB United League he passed 700 career points.
Murzagalyev also captained the Kazakhstan national team and represented the country internationally.
He moves straight into the club's coaching staff, joining the Astana bench as an assistant to the head coach.
