VTB United League Cup to Be Named After Sergei Ivanov
Starting next season, the VTB United League Cup and its top individual awards will honor Sergei Ivanov, a league founder who died in June at 73.
The VTB United League will name its Cup after Sergei Ivanov, one of the officials who helped set up the competition, as part of a season dedicated to his memory.
Ivanov died on 26 June at the age of 73.
The Russian Cup of Champions will carry the name of Sergei Belov. A logo marking Ivanov will appear at the centre circle of every court in the league, and players and referees will wear memorial patches on their kit during matches.
The league's main individual prizes will also bear his name: the MVP awards for the Super Cup, the All-Star Game and the regular season.
