Cavaliers Promote Brandon Weems to General Manager
LeBron James congratulated Brandon Weems after the Cavaliers officially named him general manager, filling the post Mike Gansey left for Philadelphia.
A front-office reorganisation in 2017 made him director of scouting, and in 2022 he was promoted again, to assistant general manager. Over the past four years he has handled contract negotiations, salary-cap work and major trades.
LeBron James reacted to the news on social media: "Oh yeah! Congrats to my little bro!! Proud of you."
The two go back further than the announcement suggests. James ultimately signed with Philadelphia rather than returning to Cleveland.
