Giannakopoulos Repeats Bid to Bring Jokic to Panathinaikos
Panathinaikos owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos says he will do everything possible to sign Nikola Jokic, though he admits the NBA may block such a departure.
Dimitris Giannakopoulos has reiterated his desire to sign Nikola Jokic for Panathinaikos, stating he would use all his influence to facilitate the move despite potential NBA restrictions on star players leaving.
"As far as I'm concerned, I stopped watching the NBA the day Michael Jordan retired. Seriously. I only started watching the NBA a little again when Jokic arrived there. I believe he's one of the ten greatest players of all time. I would really like to see him in a Panathinaikos jersey and I'll do everything in my power to make that happen. The nuances around this are complicated, because I don't think it depends only on the clubs. I think the issue is that the NBA might simply not let a star of that calibre leave. But Koumaras [Giannakopoulos's own nickname] sorts out any business," the Panathinaikos owner said.
Giannakopoulos had previously spoken about an attempt to open talks with Denver over Jokic.
