Jordan Brink has left the New York Knicks after serving as the team's "challenge coordinator" — the coach's aide better known in the league as the man with the iPad.
The role calls for split-second judgement: watching real-time replays on a tablet and telling the head coach whether to challenge a call or let it go. Brink built a reputation for a high hit-rate on those calls.
His clearest moment came in Game 2 of the NBA Finals. With 2.5 minutes left, Brink's call to challenge turned what had been ruled a turnover into three free throws for OG Anunoby. New York went on to beat San Antonio 105-104.
Brink's contract with the Knicks has now run out. He moves to Chicago as an assistant under new head coach Tiago Splitter.
Ed Flynn takes his place in New York. Flynn spent the last three seasons as video coordinator with the Pelicans.
