Timberwolves GM Matt Lloyd counted 94 phone calls with Jonathan Kuminga's agent since 15 July before agreeing a two-year, $13m deal with a player option.
Minnesota general manager Matt Lloyd says it took 94 phone calls to sign Jonathan Kuminga. Lloyd counted them from 15 July, when talks with the player's agent began, to the day the deal was done.
Lloyd said the number came up at home. "The opportunity to sign Kuminga was the result of a great many phone calls and a huge investment of time. At one point my wife asked me: 'How many times has he called you?' She meant Kuminga's agent. 'How many times have you spoken to him on the phone since mid-July?' I said: 'All right, let me look.' We checked my phone, and from 15 July until the day we signed Jonathan there were exactly 94 phone calls."
Kuminga and the Timberwolves agreed a two-year contract worth $13m, with a player option on the second season.
