RJ Barrett admits bitterness over former club Knicks' title
The Raptors guard says he first felt a little bitterness when New York won the championship, but called old team-mates to congratulate them and is now happy.
RJ Barrett admits he first felt "a little bitterness" when the New York Knicks won the title, the team he played for during his first four and a half NBA seasons.
"At first I definitely felt a little bitterness. We, the Raptors, lost in the first round, and that was painful," Barrett told CBC Sports.
Barrett kept in touch with his old squad and admitted he’s past the first-round sting. "I still have friends there. I called the guys and congratulated them. So everything is fine. I am very happy for them. I hope we manage to take some of their success and bring it here," Barrett said.
The Knicks took the Canadian guard with the No 3 pick in the 2019 draft. In December 2019 he was traded to Toronto along with Immanuel Quickley in the deal that brought OG Anunoby to New York.
