Henri Veesaar, the Atlanta Hawks' new centre, has torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and will miss the whole of the 2026/27 season, the club said.
The injury came in training. Veesaar will have surgery next month.
The 22-year-old Estonian was taken by the Hawks with the 52nd pick in the 2026 draft, after the club moved up several places to select him. In his last season in the NCAA he averaged 17 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists a game, shooting 42.6% from three.
