Tyrese Haliburton has opened up on the support network that helped him through his Achilles rehabilitation, telling Boardroom that Kevin Durant was among those who checked in on him at home. During the finals, Haliburton received so many voice messages from LeBron James — it was just unbelievable. Haliburton is currently in the final stages of his rehab timeline, aiming for a return to the court.
"He came to my house, played with my dog — just to check on me. And I thought, 'Okay, now we're friends forever'."
"After the injury I realised how many people genuinely cared about my condition. They came to see me. That is what I value most in the people I love and respect. That is what matters to me."
He also pointed to LeBron James and Stephen Curry, his team-mates on the US Olympic side, as figures who stayed in touch through his recovery.
"Bron and Steph called me too and asked how I was doing. When I got shingles and told them what I was going through, they both called me. But for me, they are the big three. So when they show me that love and support, I think: what else matters in the world of basketball?"
