Lawrence Tanter, the Lakers' public address announcer for 43 years, has died at the age of 76.
LeBron James paid tribute on X. "Rest in peace, Lawrence Tanter! I enjoyed seeing you at almost every home game over the last eight years at the scorer's table and always greeting you with respect, because you deserved to hear words of thanks while you were still alive! Your voice sounded throughout the arena and filled it. You made home games special! We will miss you very much! Glad we got to spend some time together, my friend! My thoughts and prayers are with your family and loved ones," James wrote.
Tanter announced line-ups and game events at Lakers home games. He stepped away from the club's games in June, after a stroke in March.
