Jasikevicius blames himself after Fenerbahce beat Virtus 78:68

Fenerbahce coach Sarunas Jasikevicius blamed himself after his side beat Virtus 78:68 in the opening round of the EuroLeague, saying he made a tactical error in the defensive set-up.

The Turkish side led by only 1 point at half-time and pulled clear after the break.

He was equally blunt about the performance as a whole. "We did not show our level today. And the team was coached badly. We won, but we need to learn lessons from this game. Starting with me," he said.

The main task at this stage of the season, Jasikevicius said, is to integrate the new players into the system. "Of course, that does not remove the need to win," he added.

If the second-half adjustments hold, this may mean the defensive changes become the template for Fenerbahce's next games, while the integration of the new players remains the bigger question.
