Rajakovic: Kawhi Leonard will complement young Raptors squad
Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic said he was delighted by Kawhi Leonard's return to Toronto and trusts the medical staff to manage the forward's workload.
Toronto Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic said he was delighted when he learned the club could bring Kawhi Leonard back, and that he sees the forward fitting a young squad.
"When I found out we had the chance to get Kawhi on our team, I was very happy," Rajakovic said. "I followed his career, everything he has achieved individually and with his teams, and everything he achieved here in Toronto. For me it was great news. I was very glad that he is coming home, will be in Toronto again and can join our team."
The coach went on: "I think he will bring our team many qualities and a great deal of benefit. He will complement our young team perfectly. At the same time, the youth, energy and culture of our team, I think, will suit him perfectly too."
Rajakovic also addressed Leonard's workload. The Raptors know how it has to be handled, he said.
"We know what we are going to face. We know how professional Kawhi is. We trust our medical staff and the work we do, so we believe it will be a great period for everyone."
If that approach holds, Leonard's minutes could be managed closely with medical staff, while younger players shoulder the daily workload.
