Kevin Durant on Marcus Smart: He does everything at a decent level
The Houston Rockets forward says his new team-mate has no single defining skill, as Smart can guard centres, run the offence, shoot and score inside.
Kevin Durant says there is no single skill that defines Marcus Smart, his new team-mate at the Houston Rockets, because he does everything at a very decent level.
"You can't single out one thing he does brilliantly. That is, you can't just say he is strong in one particular area. He does absolutely everything at a very decent level. Sometimes I see him defending against centres. He can be a point guard too. He can shoot, he can power through in the post, he can finish with either the left hand or the right – he is simply a versatile basketball player. He is one of those guys you can put anywhere and at any moment, and he will figure everything out," Durant said.
Smart joined the Rockets after a season with the Lakers. He played 62 games for them and averaged 9.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3 assists in 28.5 minutes, shooting 33.1% from three.
If Durant's description reflects how Houston plan to use Smart, he may be moved between roles as games require rather than fixed in one.
