Bronny James on LeBron's Move to the 76ers

Bronny James says his father's departure from the Los Angeles Lakers has not left him bitter, and that he is looking forward to facing him at Christmas.

LeBron James, 41, signed with the Philadelphia 76ers this summer for his 24th NBA campaign, ending a two-season stretch in which he and Bronny were the first father and son to play together in league history. LeBron had previously rated that spell alongside his son as being worth as much as any of his championship rings. Bronny, drafted by the Lakers in 2024, stays on in the family's adopted home city and begins his third professional season still working to nail down a settled rotation spot.

Speaking publicly on the split for the first time, on Monday, Bronny set out where he stands.

"Happy for him, and excited for where their season goes," Bronny said. "I'm excited to see him on Christmas, excited to play against him on Christmas. It's going to be good."

The fixture he means is set. The 76ers travel to the Lakers on 25 December, a game that will be played at Crypto.com Arena, the Lakers' 19,079-seat home. It gives father and son an early meeting on opposite benches, only months after they shared one.

Little separates the two sides in stature — both the Lakers and the 76ers trace their history back to 1946 — but for Bronny the season ahead is about establishing himself without his father in the same locker room, something he did not have to do for his first two years in the league.
