Knicks Pause Ticket Sales After Pricing Error
Madison Square Garden Sports halted single-game sales after the season-opener get-in price hit $1,363, and will restore last year's prices plus 12% with refunds issued.
The New York Knicks have stopped selling individual game tickets for the 2026/27 season after admitting a pricing error pushed the cheapest seats for the opener above $1,000.
The get-in price for the 20 October fixture against the Philadelphia 76ers reached $1,363 when tickets went on general sale on Wednesday, according to TicketData. Earlier in the week, when Knicks Fan First Chase cardholders got first access on Monday, the figure had spiked as high as $1,408.
Madison Square Garden Sports said in a statement:
"We are pausing Knicks individual ticket sales due to a mistake in our pricing. We are rolling back to last year's prices plus an average increase of 12%. We will restart sales with new prices shortly, and anyone who already purchased individual tickets will be refunded the difference."
The club added: "Our intention was never to overcharge our loyal fans, and we thank everyone for their support of the Knicks and their patience as we get this right."
Season-ticket sales, which began months ago, were not affected by the error.
A price rise had been expected regardless. Owner James Dolan has held ticket prices flat in years the Knicks miss the play-offs, but increases have typically followed a play-off run — and this time the club is coming off its first NBA championship in 53 years.
The opener already carried extra weight on the calendar. The Knicks currently sit 28th of the teams in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, without a win in four matches there.
The pricing furore joins a wider crackdown on ticket scalping and club sales. If the rollback holds, fans who paid the inflated prices this week should see a refund of the difference before the season opener arrives.
