JJ Redick on Quentin Grimes' Hamptons house mix-up

JJ Redick told the story of a guest gone astray, involving Lakers guard Quentin Grimes and a house in Sag Harbor, New York.

Redick had given Grimes the address of his guest house, along with instructions for where to find the key and which bedrooms were free. Grimes brought a friend along and arrived earlier in the day.

Redick came back from a round of golf expecting to meet Grimes at the gym. Nobody was there, and no extra cars stood in the driveway. Grimes had told him he had already arrived and was at the guest house.

Redick checked social media and found a photo Grimes had posted from a swimming pool, tagged with a Hamptons hashtag. The house in the photograph was not his.

"He brought his friend here. And I'm very detail-oriented. I give him the address of my guest house. It's a very specific address, like all addresses are. No ambiguity at all. There's a street, there's a house number. Pretty simple, right? So I give him the address and tell him where the key is so he can get in. I said: 'When you walk in, there's a bedroom on the first floor. And a bedroom on the second floor. Make yourself at home. There's a gym in the basement. Everything you need.' Clear instructions. That day I come back from golf and want to meet Quentin, go to the gym. And there's nobody in my guest house. But he'd told me they'd already arrived and were sitting in the guest house. I look everywhere for him, can't find him, no extra cars in the driveway either. I check his social media, and he's posted a photo from the pool of a different house in my neighbourhood with a hashtag like 'Living in the Hamptons.' And I write to him: 'Where the hell even are you, man?!' They'd gone into one of my neighbours' places and moved into their guest house. I don't know how they found the keys, must have been unlocked," Redick said, laughing.
