Max Strus says Darius Garland will be the Clippers' main leader this season, backing his healthy return after an injury-hit year in Cleveland.
Max Strus has backed Darius Garland to run the Clippers' locker room this season, after the Cavaliers traded the guard to Los Angeles over the summer.
"No doubt about it. Garland will definitely be the team's main leader. A lot now rests on his shoulders, but we'll all help him carry that load. He's got the potential, no question. A damn good player. I'm really glad to see him fully healthy and to get a full season alongside him. Garland can control the locker room through his leadership and energy, through his self-control. People draw confidence from that, and he understands it well," Strus said.
Strus himself joined the Clippers from the Cavaliers this off-season, reuniting with Garland after playing alongside him in Cleveland. The Clippers reshaped their roster over the summer, moving on from several veterans while keeping Garland and adding Brandon Ingram.
Garland missed extended stretches last season with injury, so a healthy year at full strength is the baseline the Clippers are building their backcourt around.
