About the player
Ashley Sanchez arrived at North Carolina Courage in January 2024 after a trade that sent Washington Spirit's No. 5 overall pick in that year's NWSL Draft and $250,000 in allocation money the other way. She had spent her first four professional seasons at the Spirit.
Her biggest moment in Washington colours came in the 2021 NWSL Championship run, where she scored the game-winning goal in the semi-final against OL Reign. On the international stage, Sanchez made her senior USWNT debut in November 2021 against Australia and scored all three of her national-team goals in a single year, 2022, including one in the semi-final of that year's CONCACAF W Championship against Costa Rica. She was named to the 2023 World Cup squad but did not feature in the tournament, and missed out on the final roster for the Paris Olympics in 2024.
