Eduardo Quaresma

Eduardo Quaresma spent two seasons away from Sporting CP on loan — first at Tondela, then at Hoffenheim — while the club collected trophies during his absences. Portuguese media picked up on the pattern and nicknamed him "amuleto", the lucky charm, for the titles collected during his absences.

He came through Sporting's academy after starting out at Fabril, progressing via Sporting B before his loan spells abroad and in the Primeira Liga. At Tondela he made 30 appearances and scored twice; at Hoffenheim he featured four times in the Bundesliga and six more for the reserve side.

Quaresma returned to Sporting and established himself as a regular starter from the 2023–24 season under Rúben Amorim. He has since won three Primeira Liga titles, a Taça da Liga and a Taça de Portugal with the club, and was part of the squad for the Taça de Portugal final against Benfica. In the 2024–25 title run he scored a stoppage-time goal against Gil Vicente.

At international level he captained Portugal's under-17s at the 2019 European Championship and has continued through the youth pyramid up to the under-21s, where he made his debut in 2021, taking his total youth caps to 48 across the various age groups.
