About the player
Corona came through Monterrey's academy and made his first-team debut for the club in 2010, before a move to FC Twente took him to the Netherlands three years later. A spell at Sevilla followed before he returned to Monterrey in 2023.
With the Mexico national team, Corona scored the winning goal in the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup final against Jamaica and was named the tournament's Best Young Player. The following year, at the 2016 Copa América Centenario, he scored a goal against Venezuela that was later voted CONCACAF's Goal of the Year. He also featured at the 2015 Copa América and the 2018 World Cup, and as a youth international he was part of the Mexico squad that won the 2013 CONCACAF U-20 Championship.
