About the player
He made his professional debut at Juan Aurich and moved on to Sporting Cristal, but it was the switch to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim that opened his European path, with loan spells at Ponte Preta, Vitória Setúbal and back at Sporting Cristal along the way.
One match at Boca stands out for the wrong reasons: in a CONMEBOL Sudamericana tie against Cruzeiro in August 2024, he was sent off just nine seconds into the game for a reckless challenge on Lucas Romero, and Boca went on to be eliminated from the competition.
For the national team, Advíncula has built a long international career, debuting against Canada in September 2010 and reaching 130 caps by October 2025. He has scored twice for Peru, once in a friendly against Germany in September 2018 and once in a World Cup qualifier against Ecuador in June 2021. He was part of the Peru squad at the 2021 Copa América, where the team finished fourth. Earlier in his career, in 2012, he was in advanced talks to join Houston Dynamo, though the move ultimately fell through.
