Boulogne sur Mer

A promotion to the top flight arrives once in a club's life, and for the side from Boulogne-sur-Mer it came in 2014, when SOMB won Pro B and stepped up to Pro A for the first time. The stay lasted one season: eighteenth place sent the team back down, and by 2017 a second eighteenth-place finish had pushed it further, into the third tier. Between those two relegations sat a run in the Coupe de France that briefly suggested something else was possible — in 2012–13 the club reached the quarter-finals, beating Strasbourg IG 88–86 along the way, and repeated the feat the following season.

The club traces back to 1935, founded as a general sports outfit called Stade Olympique Maritime Boulonnais, with basketball added only in the 1939–40 season. Locals knew the team as Les Mouettes — the Seagulls — a name tied to that SOMB identity before a rebranding shifted the club toward a sailor's theme under the name Boulogne Côte d'Opale Basket.

Among the players who passed through, Alando Tucker's name carries weight beyond Boulogne. Games against Berck and Loon-Plage are still billed locally as the Derby de la Côte d'Opale, distinct from the better-known Opalico contested elsewhere on the same coast between Gravelines-Dunkerque and Le Portel.

Home games are played at the Palais des sports Damrémont, a hall that holds up to 2,000 for basketball.
